On a deserted pier on the outskirts of Galveston, Texas, there sits an old and decrepit warehouse. Apparently deserted for years, all the locals, who will only speak of it in hushed whispers, say it is haunted. Anyone who goes near it is either not seen again, or comes back changed, unable to say what it is they have seen and experienced.
In reality, this warehouse is not deserted at all. It is the headquarters to a shadowy organization known to most of its members only as "Pier 13." Its primary mission is to locate, and if necessary supress, manifestations of the paranormal in ordinary human existance. Using the principle of using thieves to catch thieves, the operatives of Pier 13 themselves come from the ranks of the paranormal. Psychics, vampires, lamia, lycanthropes, and other beings only known in stories work behind the scenes to ensure that their existance remains a guarded secret.
